About James Bernard
James started his career in London working with several international financial institutions and commodity trading houses where he developed his passion for commodities, logistics, and trading global markets. He then went on to incorporate several companies producing and trading in metals, alloys and various other commodities. In 2006 he moved to Dubai to join DMCC as Associate Director of Commodities working with the Dubai Gold & Commodities Exchange (DGCX) to develop futures contracts. In 2009 DMCC appointed him as Director of Business Development, driving the next stage of growth for DMCC Free Zone, successfully taking the company on to achieve unprecedented growth, and developing it into a multi award winning Free Zone which to date has attracted 18,000 member companies to its central Dubai location. After 14 years in Dubai he was recently appointed as DMCC’s Official Representative to Europe and operates out of offices in the Netherlands. As one of the founding members of the ‘Blockchain Innovation Group’ and the ‘Global Blockchain Council’ he also continues to assist in the development of Dubai as a global sector hub and the creation of the DMCC Crypto ecosystem in Dubai. A true entrepreneur at heart James is also an advisor to a number of companies and sits on several advisory boards and sector committies.
